




SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 48
(By Senators Caldwell, Ross, Rowe, Anderson and Oliverio)




Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance study
updating and raising roadway standards on the West Virginia
Turnpike.

Whereas, The West Virginia Turnpike is a vital highway through
the state and a vital link to southern West Virginia; and

Whereas, The West Virginia Turnpike is crucial to tourism and
travel in the state; and

Whereas, It is imperative that the West Virginia Turnpike be
adequately maintained and upgraded to meet the standards of the
twenty-first century
; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is
requested to study updating and raising roadway standards on the
West Virginia Turnpike
; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and
Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 2003, on
its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts
of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations;
and, be it

Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be
paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on
Government and Finance.
